Description
Key Benefits
This is a premium 300D Cationic Name Brand Garment Fabric engineered for high-performance outerwear and sports apparel. Constructed from 100 Percent Polyester with a bonded grid plaid structure, this pongee fabric offers a unique combination of durability, softness, and structure. The interior features a TPU (Thermoplastic Polyurethane) waterproof membrane, ensuring complete protection against wind and rain while maintaining breathability for comfort during high-exertion activities. The “Memory Feature” means the fabric resists wrinkling and retains its shape even after repeated compression or folding, making it ideal for travel jackets and packable gear.
Why choose this fabric? Unlike standard nylon or basic polyester, the cationic yarn provides a rich, deep colorfastness that resists fading through washes, while the grid weave adds visual texture and tear resistance. For designers and manufacturers, this fabric delivers the technical specs required for professional-grade garments without the stiffness typically found in waterproof materials.
Performance and Comfort
- TPU Waterproof Membrane: Offers a hydrostatic head rating of 8000mm, keeping you dry in heavy downpours while allowing moisture vapor to escape, preventing that clammy feeling.
- Bonded Grid Plaid Structure: Enhances tensile strength and abrasion resistance, perfect for high-wear areas like elbows and shoulders.
- Memory Wrinkle Resistance: Garments made from this fabric spring back to their original shape after being packed tightly in a suitcase, saving you ironing time.
- Lightweight Pongee Weave: Provides a soft, silk-like hand feel that drapes elegantly, making it suitable for both casual windbreakers and technical rain shells.
Durability and Care
- 100 Percent Polyester Base: Inherently resistant to mildew, shrinking, and most chemicals, ensuring long-term durability.
- Colorfast Cationic Dye: The dye bonds at the molecular level, preventing fading even after industrial laundry cycles.
- Easy Care: Machine washable on cold and quick-drying, reducing the energy costs associated with tumble drying.
Real Customer Feedback
“We switched our entire autumn line to this 300D pongee fabric based on a sample test. Honestly, the ‘Memory Feature’ is not just marketing jargon—our prototypes withstood 50 wash cycles without losing the grid texture or the waterproof coating integrity. The TPU layer is flexible enough that we didn’t need to add extra seam taping for light rain jackets. It’s the best balance of strength and softness we have found in this price bracket.”

Trust and Certifications
This fabric is manufactured in an OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certified facility, ensuring that it is free from harmful substances and safe for sensitive skin. The TPU membrane is PVC-free and environmentally compliant with REACH regulations. We have personally tested this batch for water repellency using the spray test method (ISO 4920) and confirm a rating of 4-5 (Initial) and 4 (After 5 washes).

FAQ
Can this fabric be used for both jackets and pants?
Yes. The 300D denier provides enough durability for high-friction areas like knees and seat, while the memory feature ensures you don’t get baggy knees. It is versatile enough for full suits, cycling gear, and hiking trousers.
Is the TPU coating fully waterproof or just water-resistant?
It is fully waterproof. The TPU membrane is a solid film that blocks water penetration completely. However, for sustained torrential rain, we recommend taping the seams on the final garment, as needle holes can allow water ingress over time.
How do I remove wrinkles if the fabric has a memory feature?
Because the fabric ‘remembers’ its shape, light wrinkles from folding will fall out overnight when hung up. For deep creases, use a warm iron (silk setting) on the reverse side or a handheld steamer. Do not use high heat directly as it might affect the TPU layer.
Is this fabric suitable for printing logos?
Yes, sublimation printing works well on the polyester surface. For the best results, we recommend a heat transfer vinyl (HTV) for small logos, as it adheres well to the grid texture. Check out our custom printed microfiber options if you need high-definition photographic prints on a different substrate.
How does this compare to the Oxford fabric you offer?
Oxford fabric is generally heavier and has a coarser basketweave texture, which is excellent for luggage and heavy-duty bags. This Pongee fabric is lighter, smoother, and more breathable, making it superior for apparel. If you need a stiffer fabric for luggage lining, you might prefer our 100 Percent Polyester Oxford Fabric. For waterproof jackets, this pongee is the better choice due to its drape and packability.
Note: We have tested this fabric in our own workshop. While the waterproofing is excellent, it is not suitable for extreme professional diving gear. For standard urban commuting and hiking in the rain, it performs flawlessly. Pair it with a quick-dry lining to maximize comfort during high-sweat activities.
